Schools

Located in the Sandhills of North Carolina, the Richmond County School System, founded in 1967,  serves the municipalities of Cordova, Dobbins Heights, Ellerbe, Hamlet, Hoffman, and Rockingham.  Approximately 8,400 students attend the eighteen public schools that comprise the district. The school district consists of four primary schools (grades K-3); seven elementary schools (grades K-6); four junior  high schools (grades 7-9); one high school (grades 10-12); an alternative school; and a children's center  for students with special needs.
