2000-2001 THEATRE SEASON

The Richmond Community Theatre has returned to presenting 3 plays for its 2000-2001 season.  The Theatre will present the fall presentation of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize novel, “To Kill A Mockingbird”, followed by the winter presentation of “Driving Miss Daisy”, and will conclude with the famed comedy, “Harvey”.

“We’re glad to be going back to present three plays a season,” said Theatre Board Chairman, Jimmy McDonald.  “We've had a lot of people wanting this change, as we have too.  We had a lot of people audition and get involved with the Theatre last year, and that's what prompted our scheduling a third show.”

The fall presentation of “To Kill A Mockingbird” is the story about a young girl growing up in her southern home and her remembrance of her father and her life.  There are roles for 17 individuals ranging in age from 10 through 70.  Auditions will begin September 11, and the play will be presented November 2-4 and 9-11.
The winter production of Alfred Uhry’s “Driving Miss Daisy” is the popular story about the commonality among people in race and age.  The play was first presented by the Richmond Community Theatre in 1992 and became the theatre’s fourth most popular show in the theatre’s 23 year history.  There are roles for 2 men and 1 woman.  Auditions will be held January 8-10, and the show will be presented March 1-3 and 8-10.

The final and spring play of the season will be an encore presentation of the ever famous comedy, “Harvey”  First presented by the Theatre in 1983, “Harvey” is the story about Elwood P. Dowd who has an illusionary rabbit as his guardian angel, and no matter what life throws at him, Harvey is there to bail him out of trouble.  There are roles for 9 men and 6 women.
