The Richmond Community Theatre has announced the plays for the 1999-2000 Theatre Season. The Season will begin with the Fall presentation of John Steinbeck’s classic “Of Mice and Men”, and will conclude with the Spring presentation of the Norman Barasch/Carroll Moore comedy, “Send Me No Flowers”. “Of Mice and Men”, written in 1937, is story of two roving farm hands during the depression era. One is worldly wise and street-smart, while the other has “the strength of a gorilla and the mind of a child”. “This is one of the finest plays written” said theatre director, David Ariail. John Steinbeck won the Pulitzer prize for his novel “The Grapes of Wrath” in 1939. “We've held-off from doing this show previously, only because of the casting requirements”, said Ariail. The play consists of roles for 9 men and 1 young attractive woman. The play will be presented November 4-6 and 11-13, and auditions will begin September 20th at the Community Theatre at 7:30 PM.
"In celebrating the Theatre’s twenty-third season, everyone wanted to do something special", said theatre board chairman, John Hutchinson. “This is a nice combination of great drama and great comedy”.
